Hyundai A-League players Jason Culina and Michael Beauchamp join the squad for the first time since the 2010 FIFA World Cup, along with overseas players Tim Cahill, Brett Emerton, Josh Kennedy, Harry Kewell and Nathan Burns, while Scott McDonald and Matthew Spiranovic are recalled. 11/08/2010: The new Qantas Socceroos Head Coach will be Holger Osieck. Frank Lowy announced the appointment in Ljubljana this afternoon prior to Thursday morning's fixture against Slovenia at the new Sportni Park stadium. After two Dutchmen, Holger Osieck (aged 62) is a German born football coach. He most recently managed J-League club Urawa Red Diamonds in 2008, and served as an assistant coach of Germany when they won the 1990 World Cup. He also has had two spells in Turkish club football and led Canada to win the 2000 CONCACAF Gold Cup, plus served on FIFA’s Technical Study Group Committee at the 2010 WC. More details ...

01/08/2010: The Qantas Young Socceroos have won the final of the U-19 Youth AFF Championships tournament in Vietnam beating defending champion Thailand 1-0. A late goal by Eli Babalj was enough to overcome a very tactically disciplined team and make amends for their heartbreaking 2009 loss to Thailand on penalties. Australia had drawn with Thailand in their group. The young team had defeated South Korea 1-0, drew with Thailand 1-1, and won 4-1 in the last game. This is preparation for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-19 Championships 2010 in Shandong, China, from 3-17 October, 2010. ..
