BOTN looks at the Australian HAL clubs 2012 AFC Champions League Campaigns


Australia now has three A-League teams in the mix!

Australia's entrants in the 2012 AFC Champions League, are Premiers Brisbane Roar FC, second placed Central Coast Mariners FC. New arrangements giving Australia access a third place through a draw and HAL third placed Adelaide City FC, a veteran of the competition, now join them.

The draw took place on Tuesday 6 December, 2011. Adelaide gained Australia new 1/2 spot, but drew a bye in the play-off and thereby direct entry to the group round however after a court case the Reds played the Indonesion champions Persipura Jayapura from near the border with Papua New Guinea. They won 3-0.

Brisbane Roar FC in their first appearance are placed in Group F with Beijing Guaon of China, Ulsan Hyundai of South Korea, and also from the Japan the winner of the Emperor's Cup.

Central Coast Mariners FC are in for the second time and have been drawn in Group G with Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma of South Korea, with Japan's Nagoya Grampus , and China's Tianjin Teda

Adelaide United FC have been drawn in Group E with old rivals Gamba Osaka (Japan), Bunyodkor PFK (Uzbekistan)
and the Thai FA Cup champions.
