Dulwich Hill came away from Christie Park on Wednesday night with a point from a 0-0 draw with Spirit FC - a result that may not yet be enough for both sides. Dulwich Hill to avoid the wooden spoon, and Spirit to confirm a place in the top 5 finals series.

The game had to be re-scheduled due to wet weather in round 20; and with the final round 22 coming up this weekend it was vital for the game to be played. The lights going out 6 minutes early threw a bit of a stir into proceedings but at least the more modern technology at Christie Park worked to get them back on, unlike a few grounds during the McDonalds Cup.

The game started in cold and blustery conditions, and on a bumpy pitch - not conducive to a display of fine football, and so it wasn't.

Both teams were in earnest enough though - needing points - but it had draw written all over it from the start - between some fine goalkeeping and wayward shooting.

Paul Nicolaou headed over for Spirit nine minutes in from a corner from the left. Dully's Ralph Bove sent a free-kick in from 25m out on the left six minutes later, but it took a deflection and went wide of the right upright.

Matt Peatey got into the Dully box in the 22nd minute but just as he had the goal at his mercy Marcus Frost was on hand to take the ball off his feet. Michael Lloyd-Green hit a shot at Murray Nelson in the 31st minute but the Spirit custodian made a regulation save.

A few minutes before the break a neat one-two between Tim Simpson and Leo Papanicolaou ended in Simpson whipping in a stinging shot which Michael Frost in the Dulwich Hill goal went down fast and hard to take.

Six minutes into the second half substitute Jay Lucas got a cross into Michael Lloyd-Green who though in a dangerous location took too many touches of the ball and the opening was lost.

Three minutes later Spirit livewire Ben Griffin hit a firm shot on the left that Frost could only palm away.

Best chance of the game came when Leo Papanicolaou hit the right upright but the ball fell back to Frost who was able to gather.

Just before the lights went out the best chance for Dulwich Hill saw Murray Nelson forced to come out and dive at the feet of the attacker to make a fine save.

In the few minutes after the lights returned Dully looked more focussed but it ended square and goal-less.
