It was a hot time in old Adelaide town but it was the Reds at home who felt the heat as the visiting Mariners dominated the game and came away with six clear goals in this Round 7 clash.

Rather than the wet weather of Round 2 in Gosford attempting to stifle the creativity of both teams it was hot dry conditions however Adelaide also seemed to lack the drive that had given the Mariners early concern on the Coast.

The Reds did look a chance for a while, with Quigley injecting herself from midfield in the 8th minute but it was solo work like this that stood out rather than the team work and fluid play of the Mariners that unfolded.

In the 19th minute the fast improving Ashleigh Connor turned her defender but her powerful strike slammed into the far post and out.

The first goal came in the 22nd minute when Kelly Gobleowski on the left received a neat ball and crossed to Michelle Heyman over the outstretched arm of Reds custodian Sian McLaren. The league's leading scorer and Sydney cast-off bundled the ball in for 0-1.

In the 38th minute Heyman was again on hand to score, knocking the ball in after a solid challenge by defender Rachael Doyle had allowed the ball to roll away from McLaren. 0-2

Just before the break Ashleigh Connor saw the 'keeper a little off her line and with great vision and from 25-30m slammed the ball into the top corner. 0-3

American Kendall Fletcher put the game well out of reach in the 49th minute with a practiced free-kick from 35m that soared into the top left corner of the net and gave Sian McLaren so chance. 0-4

9 minutes later more grief for Adelaide when that girl Heyman made a surging run to the edge of the area and slotted the ball between the advancing 'keeper and the right post. 0-5

Mariners substitute Jenna Kinsgley had an impact in the 73rd minute when she made one of her trade-mark weaving runs on the right, and her cross found American Lydia Vandenbergh - who made no mistake. 0-6

As the Coast looked for a record-breaking 7th goal, the Reds tried to gain some pride with some better play, particularly with Quigley pushed up front who created herself half-chances in the 78th and 90th minutes but there was denying the overwhelming result for the Central Coast Mariners, who look possible finalists on their best form.
